Short description

The Education Centre for Family Medicine was established in 1992 at the University Medical School. The main tasks of the centre were: teaching general practice/family medicine for medical students, organising and accomplishing vocational training for general practice and organising continuing medical education of general practitioners and practicing paediatricians in Northeast-Hungary. The Centre was transformed to Department of Family Medicine, and its tasks were extended with research activity related to family medicine.


The medical education, professional training and continuing medical education tasks of the Department are realised by the staff members, external lecturers and the members of the teaching general practitioners' network.


Research topics the departments are the following: investigation of cardiovascular risk factors, estimation of cardiovascular risk, continuing care of patients with high cardiovascular risk, screening metabolic syndrome and its treatment, as well as practice of infant nutrition, relation of infant nutrition to allergic diseases, effect of antismoking campaigns in childhood.
